The Best Tearooms in Paris

The best of both worlds: sure Beauty-id business is brisk, but we always make time to take in the sights and sounds of Paris.

My Beauty-id On-the-Go Pack and I fly to Paris for business (and pleasure!) several times a year, and clients often ask me where to go in the city of light to get the best food, drinks, shopping, or just to plain people-watch and relax.

Although Beauty-id takes up the better part of my waking hours, I always find time to linger in my favorite Parisian tearooms. After all, what better way to take a break from the bustle of the city, if not over a cup of tea and a patisserie?

Mariages Freres has the largest choice of teas in Paris, it's Beauty-id's favorite

My Beauty-id On To Go Pack is never far away, even during teatime at Mariage Freres!

A favorite on blustery winter days is Angelina on the rue de Rivoli, a stone’s throw from the stately Tuileries gardens and just across from the Louvre. I tuck into an éclair au café along with a cup of Darjeeling while my husband swears by the deliciously rich homemade hot cocoa and a Mont Blanc (a stunning tower of chestnut purée and whipped cream).

In the summertime we like to stop by La Carette on the Place du Trocadéro—a hip place to be seen and ideal for people-watching with its roomy terrace.

Another great terrace, and a little more central, is the famed Café des Deux Magots on the Boulevard Saint Germain, right across from L’Eglise Saint Germain des Près, one of Paris’ oldest churches.

When Beauty-id business has me up bright and early, I like to schedule breakfast meetings at the legendary La Durée. With their generous choice of pastries (you’ve surely heard of their renowned macaroons), and the quintessentially Parisian décor gracing the second floor of their Champs Elysées location, La Durée is worth the detour! Note: Be sure you queue up in the right place—the line on the left is to buy pastries, and the one on the right is to get a table in the tearoom. Don’t forget to request seating upstairs.

My favorite tearoom of all is Mariage Frères (also a great venue for business meetings), not only for their impressive assortment of cakes, but also because they offer the best tea selection in Paris, not to mention that their Earl Grey Imperial and Bergamot -flavored Darjeeling is to die for.

Mariage Frères is where I stock up on tea to bring back to the US; each bag is made of traditional French cotton muslin.

Here are some of my all-time favorite teas from Mariage:

Vert Provence Green Tea: mellow, fruity and floral
French Breakfast Tea: a rich, elegant and refined flavor
Earl Grey French Blue (my favorite for breakfast) – velvety bergamot and royal blue flowers.
Marco Polo (their bestseller) – a fruity afternoon blend.

Beauty-id’s On the Go Pack in Chile and Argentina

These photos were taken on our recent trip to Chile and Argentina in the Patagonia region. Spectacularly beautiful!

Our first stop was the Explora lodge in Chile where we hiked and enjoyed the rugged mountain scenery. Near the Explora Lodge (with your great product "Ideas to Go"), shows the "horns" of this particular mountain range.

llama-like animals, guanaco, seen in great abundance in this area.

The "sentinel" that the herd always has on look-out to warn against predators. Many puma roam this area and feed off the guanaco.

The volcano Osorno, near the town of Puerto Montt; it is one of the most active volcanoes in the southern Chilean Andes, though it has not erupted since 1869. It is similar in shape to Mt. Fuji. The top slopes are covered in glaciers.

View out of the window of our beautiful hotel, Llao Llao Spa and Resort. Great place, good food, beautiful and restful after quite a few days of hiking. (My hair is still looking good!)

Buenos Aires shows the white kerchief that is worn by all the women who march, in total silence, around the monument in front of the presidential palace, every Thursday afternoon.......rain or shine, cold or hot.......in remembrance of all their loved ones who disappeared during the Pinochet years of rule.

Still in Buenos Aires, show the tomb of Eva (Duarte) Peron, First Lady of Artentina, wife of President Juan Peron. She was First Lady from 1946 until her death in 1952 at age 33. She was greatly beloved by the poor of Argentina for championing their causes and is still revered today. Her tomb is always covered in flowers even now almost 60 years after her death.

Beauty-id’s On the Go Pack in St. Barth

We like to stay at the Guanahani Hotel while in St Barth. The rooms are comfortable and the beach is a great place to relax. The pool at the hotel is the best on the island.

We always eat at Maya's restaurant at least once during our stay. Randy and Maya are great hosts and the food and ambiance are second to none.

This year we discovered the Isle de France's restaurant for lunch. A spectacular view and terrific food.

We like to check out the other beaches during our stay like Grande Saline and St Jean.

This year we circled the island on jet skis, this gave us a really different perspective of our favorite island.

Beauty-id’s On the Go Pack in Cancun

Our stay in the Meridien hotel in Cancun was pleasant, the employees are friendly and they have a nice fitness center.
However, if you consider visiting this hotel in the future we would suggest you do so when they complete the construction of the W hotel situated directly in front of the pool.
The noise of the construction was certainly not soothing.

Beauty-id’s On the Go Pack in The British Virgin Islands

We stayed at a resort named Little Dix Bay. It is on the island of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. To get there you must fly into Tortola and take a ferry over to Virgin Gorda.

There is not much there except for the resort. It has great restaurants and 5 star service. They have beach taxies to take you to other (deserted beaches and a beautiful place called "The Baths").

One of the best things we did is dining on the beach. The resort will set this up.

They also have a fabulous spa.

You can rent moped type bikes and drive to the end of the island.

We stayed in one of the residences with its own infinity edge pool built on the cliff.

We travelled to los angeles where we boarded a crystal cruise and our destination was Valparaiso Chile. We love the Crystal Line and as of this date have been on all three ships (one has now been retired, the Harmony).

The itinerary was most attractive since we were going to stop off at ports in Ecuador, and Lima Peru and we had never been to either of these countries. The Crystal Symphony did not disappoint us. It was as wonderful this year as it was last year. The food is fabulous (maybe a little too fabulous) and the service is impeccable.

Every night is party night on the ship. Since you dine with hundreds of other people who are not total strangers you are inclined to want to look your best. The ocean breeze and the salt water pools are not too gentle on anyones hair. But thanks to Claudie Jasper who has created a wonderful hair style for me and cuts my hair to perfection and the products of Beauty-id I can manage my own hair quite well. I can honestly say that the shampoo and conditioner from Beauty-id is a product I will not travel without. Its so easy to pack and is very reliable. After every shampoo (which I do daily) it works its magic.
I never rely on the shampoo they handout in our hotel rooms (no matter what the brand is) My hair is an important part of my everyday grooming and it has to be to my satisfaction.

Chile was amazing. I cant say enough about our guide and driver who kept us safe and showed us their awesome country. If you love fresh fish, good wines and just natural beauty I recommend a trip to Chile.

Life is terrific.
