Hair fragrance does not fit into most women’s classic hair care routine of shampoo, conditioner, mask and styling agents, but you’d be surprised at the number of consumers that have tried, liked and use this product on a regular basis.

Hair fragrance, also known as hair perfume or mist, is meant to be sprayed onto dry hair. You apply it as you would a classic hair spray, but its purpose is not to give hold, but to leave the hair smelling fresh.

Like any non-essential hair care product, hair fragrance has its pros and its cons.

Let’s start with the positive aspects.

Hair fragrance can be great when you don’t have time to wash your hair, but want to keep it smelling freshly washed, like when you’ve just come out of the gym or after a late night out.

A light fragrance can be a hair pick-me-up for women with dry or curly hair who can’t wash it as much as they’d like for fear of drying it out even further.

If your coveted perfume brand offers a hair mist, it can sometimes last longer than a fragrance applied to the skin.

But then of course there are the downsides. Stay away from any hair fragrance product that contains alcohol. This will only dry out your hair, and even if you don’t have dry or brittle hair, it will take its toll.

If you’ve found you’ve fallen in love with a hair fragrance and it doesn’t do any damage, then go ahead and indulge, especially if you can only wash your hair every so often. But for those of us who shampoo daily or every other day, wouldn’t it be more logical to just wash and condition with sweet-smelling products, and forgo the expense altogether?

The advantages of single-dose haircare

It’s no secret that we are more mobile today than every before. Airplane travel has become routine commuting for some, while leisure travel numbers grow year on year.
But travel can be a challenge when it comes to maintaining your haircare routine, and can increase the frequency of those dreaded bad hair days—issues ranging from jet lag to hard water can really take its toll. This is why it’s best not to skimp when you’re on the road; take your favorite hair care products along for the ride.
With this in mind, Beauty-id has turned a challenge into an opportunity with its renowned travel-sized hair care packs.

These products are beyond just “handy”, and here’s why.

Single-use sachets are hermetically sealed to safeguard the product formula, which in the case of Beauty-id products contains precious essential oils. This means that every time you open a sachet your hair is getting the most vibrant formula possible—“a fresh burst of beauty every time”!

Single doses are convenient. No more scrambling to find travel-size bottles at the drugstore to pour your shampoo and conditioner into, no more last-minute disasters!

They simplify the hassles of air travel as the compact doses meet airline regulations on content size. Bring along 20 sachets and you’ve got the equivalent of a 200ml bottle!

Great for weekends away and trips to the gym and the spa. These doses are easily slipped into your purse, workout bag or carry-on.

Bring along your hair care routine from A to Z. Beauty-id’s On the Go Pack offers everything you need for your time away from home, from cleansing to styling—Shampoo, Conditioner, and Volumizing Lotion are housed in a compact and lightweight sleeve. Leave those bad hair days at home!

We'd love to hear any and all feedback on our On the Go Packs!

Keeping your hair healthy and vibrant when travelling can be a challenge. Airplane travel leeches moisture from both our hair and skin, while changing time zones wreak havoc on our circadian rhythms, which has a knock-on effect on your health in general.

Here are a few tips to follow when you are about to embark.

Travelling does not mean forgoing your normal hair care routine, but plan ahead.
Remember, today airlines restrict what you can take onboard; creams and liquids up to 100ml (3.4oz) are allowed, but must be sealed in a see-through plastic bag. This regulation is currently under review and may be reversed this year.

Your best bet is to buy travel-sized products (Beauty ID’s specialty! See our On-the-Go Pack). If you can’t find your favorite products in smaller formats, buy reusable travel-sized spray bottles, jars or bottles at your drugstore.

Don’t apply styling aids that tend to dry out your hair before the flight. If your ’do can’t do without hairspray, choose an alcohol-free product. Ideally, you shouldn’t apply any styling products before a long-haul flight. You can always pop into the ladies room and style your hair before landing!

For an added moisture kick, apply a leave-in conditioner before your flight. Be sure to choose a product especially formulated not to be rinsed out, such as Phyto 7. Don’t use your regular rinse-out conditioner or mask as they can contain essential oils that could be harmful if left in too long.

Drink lots of water during the flight. This helps restore lost moisture in both your hair and skin and can even ease the effect of jetlag. Avoid caffeinated drinks and alcohol, which also robs moisture from the body.
