How to Shampoo your Hair

The shampooing is the first action of beauty for your hair.

It is therefore not only necessary to choose the appropriate shampoo for your hair type but also the correct way of shampooing your hair.

6 keys for a proper shampooing:

  1. Before you shampoo, brush your hair thoroughly to remove all residue of pollutants and styling products. This will allow the water to penetrate better.
  2. Generously wet your hair, and not only on the surface.
  3. Put a small amount of shampoo in the palm of your hand and spread it by rubbing your palms together. Distribute the shampoo evenly throughout your hair.
  4. Softly massage your hair with your fingertips (never use your fingernails) in small circular movements. Always work from the scalp to the tips, following the direction of the cuticle scales. Don't rub your hair, as this will only put stress on the hair shaft, particularly the cuticle scales.
  5. Rinse abundantly for several minutes with lukewarm water, lift the hair and let the water flow back through your hair making sure it is properly rinsed. Finish with cool water to close the cuticle. This will make the light reflect better to give your hair more shine.
  6. After rinsing, gently pat with a towel, without rubbing.
  7. Remember, treat your hair as gently as possible!

    FAQ
Should I shampoo my hair daily?
Unless your hair is naturally very oily it is not necessarily good to shampoo daily. When you shampoo too often, you strip your hair of its sebum (oil). Sebum is what seals and smoothes the hair cuticle and therefore makes your hair shiny instead of flat. (Think of it as interwoven roof tiles staying flat opposed to curled up).

Should I shampoo my hair once or twice?
There is not a set rule. If you shampoo your hair often one application should be sufficient unless you have very oily hair then you should use two applications due to the excess sebum.
